The lightest level is three LEWA pouches at 20 mg of caffeine each. Each is Slim, 0.6 g per pouch, 18 per can, and each carries a different flavour and a different panel.

LEWA markets FOCUS as its focus product, GLOW under a beauty-style name and BURN with a citrus profile. BURN lists MCC (bulking agent E460), water, magnesium, flavourings, caffeine, a humectant (E1520), an acidity regulator (E500), salt, metabolaid, sweeteners (E968, E950, E960, E955), vitamin B1 and vitamin B2. FOCUS lists magtein (a form of magnesium), caffeine, vitamin B12, propylene glycol, salt, erythritol, Ace-K, stevia, sucralose and vitamin B5. GLOW lists dracobelle, caffeine, vitamin B12, vitamin B5, zinc, magnesium and sweeteners (E968, E958, E960, E955).

All four share one panel: MCC (bulking agent E460), water, caffeine, magnesium, flavourings, taurine, propylene glycol, sodium carbonate, salt, zinc, erythritol, selenium, Ace-K, vitamin B5, stevia (RA97) and sucralose. Taurine is an amino acid that occurs naturally in the body and in foods such as meat and fish. Zinc and selenium are minerals; vitamin B5 is pantothenic acid.
Who it suits: anyone who wants a caffeine figure of about half a cup of coffee and a choice of four flavours that go beyond mint, including the only liquorice caffeine pouch and the only apple one. Apple Spruce is a flavour you won't find elsewhere in the range.
77 mg per pouch: CAMO Caffeine

The panel reads cellulose (E460), water, flavourings, salt, sweetener (E955, sucralose), cooling agent, preservative agent (E202, potassium sorbate) and a pH adjusting agent (E501, potassium carbonates). CAFERO is the only line in the range that lists a preservative. Caffeine does not appear as a named line on the published panel, but the 80 mg figure is printed per pouch on the product.

The Hicaff panel is the most conventional of the five: water, bulking agent (E460), caffeine, flavourings, salt, ammonium chloride (E510), humectant (E422, glycerol), acidity regulator (E500), sweetener (E955) and thickener (E401, sodium alginate). Fresh Mint adds E950 and E967 (xylitol) to the sweetener line.

Mint is available at 20, 50 and 100 mg; coffee only at 77 and 80 mg; cola at 50 and 100 mg. Liquorice exists at one level only. The mint filter shows the mint pouches together with the zero-nicotine mints.
Reading the can before you choose
Three things on the label tell you most of what you need. First, the caffeine figure, printed per pouch. Second, the ingredients panel, which is where you see sweeteners, cooling agents, vitamins and minerals listed by name or E-number. Third, the format line: all 16 caffeine pouches are Slim, with the pouch weight between 0.6 g (LEWA) and 0.75 g (CAMO), and either 18 (LEWA) or 20 (CAMO, CAFERO, Hicaff) pouches per can.
For reference, EFSA's 2015 scientific opinion on caffeine gives 400 mg a day, and 200 mg in a single serving, for healthy adults, and for pregnancy EFSA and the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) both give 200 mg a day. Those figures cover caffeine from every source combined. Caffeine is a stimulant; how you respond to it is individual.
