Sting Free is a Swedish nicotine pouch brand based in Lidingö, just outside Stockholm, and operated by Stingfree AB. The company owns the patent for the brand's defining product feature, holds the published clinical data backing it, and makes every pouch in the range.
The brand began with founder Bengt Wiberg, a long-time snus user who developed persistent gum pain and was advised by his dentist to stop using pouches entirely. Worried about going back to smoking, he started experimenting with placing a thin barrier between the gum and the pouch. He found that the pain disappeared while flavour and nicotine release felt unchanged, and that observation became the basis for the patented PROTEX two-sided pouch design that now defines the brand.
PROTEX has since been the subject of a peer-reviewed pilot study published in Acta Odontologica, in which 23 Swedish dentists, themselves daily pouch users at the time, replaced their habitual pouches with Sting Free for five weeks. The published study and the underlying patent are both documented on Stingfree AB's own corporate site.
The 24Nico range covers seven slim-format SKUs across three strength tiers:
Every pouch shares the same PROTEX two-sided construction: a white face that releases flavour and nicotine through the oral mucosa, and a blue face positioned against the gum. The construction does not change from flavour to flavour, only the taste profile and strength do.
